This is Vandre's 100% wool houndstooth baseball hat, a low-profile cap in a classic black and white houndstooth. It brings the refinement of a wool hat in a lighter weight, woven from 100% wool at a hand-selected Peruvian mill and finished with the details of fine tailoring. 100% wool houndstooth

The fabric is the whole point. This is a lighter 100% wool, woven in a classic black and white houndstooth at a hand-selected Peruvian mill. It carries the refinement and durability of wool in a lighter weight than our wool flannel, which is what makes it so versatile. The wool is naturally breathable, wrinkle and odor resistant, soft to the touch, and it molds to your head the more you wear it. Houndstooth is a timeless pattern borrowed from fine suiting, just bold enough to notice, never loud.

A true three-season hat

Because it is a lighter wool, this is one of the most versatile hats I make. It has enough substance for fall and winter, and it is light enough to carry into the start of spring, a genuine three-season hat rather than a deep-winter one. Comfortable enough to keep on indoors, and refined enough to wear anywhere.

Designed with intention

Every detail is a decision. The semi-structured two front panels hold a clean, refined shape without feeling stiff. It is finished with a 100% leather adjustable strap in black, a metal press closure and grommet, and a pass-through that tucks the excess strap back inside for a streamlined profile. On the back, a single small embroidered V, the only branding on the hat.

The signature interior

Inside, the hat is fully lined in our signature Maui blue, a moisture-wicking 100% polyester lining that keeps the finish clean and comfortable.

The break-in period

Like a good pair of dress shoes, a wool hat is meant to break in. When it is new it may feel a little structured or snug, and that is normal. Over the first several wears the wool relaxes, softens, and molds to the shape of your head, and the fit only improves with time. To help it along, give the brim a deeper curve than you think you need, and wear the hat a touch tighter than feels natural at first. Within a few wears it settles in and becomes the hat you reach for without thinking, the same way good leather shoes take a little time to feel like your own.

Fit and sizing

This is a low-profile hat, which sits a little closer to the head, so it is best for average head sizes and smaller. One size fits most, with the 100% leather adjustable strap dialing in a secure, custom fit.

Your hat arrives with a custom Vandre satin storage bag, perfect for keeping it clean between wears, or for whatever else you choose to store in it.

Care

Spot clean as needed with cool water and a mild detergent, then reshape and air dry. The wool can handle getting wet, though prolonged exposure to rain or snow is not ideal. If you get caught in a storm, simply hang the hat to dry and never wring it out. Avoid hot water, the washing machine, and the dryer.
